My role in this project
Thermo Fisher came to us to help them animate a line diagram of their revolutionary new device that will take cancer research to the next level.
Though a diagram is informational, I pointed out to them that making it glimmer and move might appeal a bit more to emotions..."Like Apple does with their iPhones" I think I said.
So, they sent us the 3D files and I worked with a 3D artist to get the shots and angles that I thought would make it look epic and as revolutionary as it is, while telling the story of its intricacies at the same time.
Unfortunately, the shiny, sexy revolutionary part lives inside what essentially looks like a square box. So I sent this sketch over to the 3D guy to see what might be possible in terms of giving it a visionary setting.
The meat of the deck (below) is how the machine helps cancer research. I worked directly with their lead marketing scientist and writer over 3-6 months, meeting 2-3 times a week, submitting roughs and then sometimes moving the visuals around together in order to not only make them look better but better tell the story.
